“Yes Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus”
By Andrew J. Fenady | Directed by Dan Barth
Based on the teleplay by Val de Crowl and Andrew J. Fenady
Celebrate the magic of the season with Brunswick Little Theatre’s production of Yes Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus—a timeless story of faith, love, and generosity that will delight audiences of all ages.
Presented as a live 1940s radio broadcast, this charming production takes audiences back to 1897, when eight-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon hears from her friends that Santa Claus is only make-believe. Determined to discover the truth, she writes to The New York Sun with one simple question: “Is there a Santa Claus?”
Her letter reaches veteran newspaper editor Francis Church, who is grieving the loss of his wife. His unforgettable response becomes a reminder of the hope and wonder that endure even during life’s most difficult moments:
“He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist…”
Based on a true story, this holiday favorite brings together the creativity of live theatre and the nostalgic charm of an old-fashioned radio show.
“This play captures the essence of the holidays,” says director Dan Barth. “It blends the creativity of a live show with the nostalgia and enchanting spirit of Christmas.”
Make this heartwarming production part of your holiday traditions.
