Synopsis:
End Days follows the Stein family, each of whom is spiraling in their own way after
9/11. Sixteenyearold Rachel Stein is a cynical, goth outsider whose father, Arthur,
has sunk into deep depression and barely leaves his pajamas. Her mother, Sylvia,
has abruptly embraced evangelical Christianity and believes the Apocalypse is
coming…on Wednesday.
Into this chaos arrives Nelson, the sweet, scienceobsessed new neighbor who
dresses like Elvis and is determined to win over Rachel. As the supposed end
approaches, the family is forced to confront their grief, their fears, and each other
— with unexpected help from imagined versions of Jesus and Stephen Hawking.
The play blends humor, heart, and existential questions as the Steins stumble
toward connection and healing.

Characters (ALL ROLES ARE OPEN):
Rachel Stein – 16 year-old nihilistic goth. Feels angry and orphaned since
9/11, as both of her parents have withdrawn into their own worlds.
Sylvia Stein – Rachel’s mother (late 30s - early 50s). Newly Evangelical with a
close, personal relationship with Jesus.
Arthur Stein - Rachel’s father (late 30s - 50s). Deeply depressed, finding his
way.
Nelson Steinberg – Their new neighbor, also 16 years old. Passionate about
science, dresses as Elvis, loves Rachel.
Jesus and Stephen Hawking – Played by the same actor.

Update: Listen To Your Mother 2026

Brunswick Little Theatre will not be moving forward with this year’s Listen To Your Mother production due to limited participation in auditions.

We look forward to bringing this event back next year and hope to see many more voices join us then!

Thank you for your continued support.

Brunswick Little Theatre is excited to present the 4th annual Listen To Your Mother, a celebration of the joy, chaos and heart of motherhood, for two shows on May 9, 2026.

Calling all writers, bloggers, poets, actors, and regular people with something joyful, happy, funny or touching to say about motherhood! We are looking for people to read original stories or ones we provide. Truly anything that provides hope, is happy, funny, heart touching – about moms, children, stepmoms, dads who acted as moms, dog moms, you name it–we want to hear it.

Auditions are Saturday, March 21 from 1-3:00p.m. and Monday, March 23 from 6-8:00 pm in the theater at the Brunswick Little Theatre.

You may present an original TRUE story about motherhood—anything goes! (850 words or fewer) or read one we provide. Participants will attend two rehearsals, a dress rehearsal on Friday, May 8, and two performances on May 9 at 3 PM and 7 PM.

Please email any questions to Christie Delbridge at christie@brunswicklittletheatre.com.
